Marquard Smith is Founder and Editor-in-Chief, Journal of Visual Culture, and Research Leader and Head of Doctoral Studies in the School of Humanities at the Royal College of Art, London. Marq’s publications include The Erotic Doll: A Modern Fetish (Yale, 2013), Visual Culture Studies (Sage, 2008), What is Research in the Visual Arts? (Yale, co-editor, 2008), Stelarc: The Monograph (MIT, 2006), and The Prosthetic Impulse (MIT, co-editor, 2006). He has curated exhibitions including ‘How We Became Metadata’ (2010), ‘The Global Archive’ (2012), and ‘How to Construct a Time Machine’ (MK Gallery, forthcoming 2015).
