BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music) is a multi-disciplinary arts center located in Brooklyn, New York. For more than 150 years, BAM has been the home for adventurous artists, audiences, and ideas—engaging both global and local communities. With world-renowned programming in theater, dance, music, opera, film, and much more, BAM showcases the work of emerging artists and innovative modern masters.

The Marketing Manager creates and implements strategic marketing plans for BAM events, including performances, talks, classes and third-party events as well as annual series such as the Next Wave Festival. The incumbent will help cultivate audiences while meeting revenue, strategic and engagement goals. A member of BAM’s marketing team, the Marketing Manager reports to the Associate Director of Marketing and works closely with the Publicity, Digital Media, and Creative Services departments as well as staff members across the organization.

Responsibilities:

• Create and implement effective marketing plans tailored to the specific needs, challenges, and budget of each program that lead BAM to meet or exceed its revenue goals and fulfill strategic audience initiatives
• Increase awareness and visibility of BAM brand and programs
• Support audience development goals by encouraging loyalty and helping to attract new and diverse audiences to BAM
• Pursue and implement efficiencies in all areas of marketing by suggesting and testing new approaches
• Establish positioning, identify target audiences, and develop marketing plans for shows and programs as assigned
• Working in partnership with Creative Services, develop creative briefs and guide creative direction to meet objectives for all advertising and public ¬facing communications, including print, digital and video assets
• Manage the production of webpages, emails, and other digital assets in partnership with the Digital Media and Creative Services teams
• Generate social media content in partnership with the Content Marketing team to increase reach, sales and engagement
• Develop paid advertising plans in collaboration with the Ad Coordinator and the Associate Director of Marketing to stay on budget and maximize ROI
• Measure and analyze effectiveness/ROI of marketing efforts
• Create and adhere to detailed project timelines
• Work with Development team to ensure accuracy and completeness of crediting on all marketing collateral
• Keep informed of developments in the fields of marketing, communications, not-for-profit management, and performing arts, and use this information to help BAM operate with initiative and innovation

Minimum Qualifications:

• 3-5 years of marketing experience
• Strong understanding of marketing principles with experience crafting strategy and developing positioning
• Project management experience
• Strong communication skills (oral & writing)
• Ability to manage and maintain budgets
• Experience interpreting and analyzing web analytics data
• Knowledge and experience with MS Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Willingness to work some evening or weekend hours
• Interest for the performing arts
